What is a Forged Gate Valve?

A forged-body gate valve isolates the flow using a sliding gate / wedge in full open–close service. The homogeneous grain structure of forged steel increases mechanical strength under high pressure and temperature. In the fully open position, the flow path is wide and pressure loss is low. In tight spaces, the forged gate valve provides secure isolation with a compact body, helping to optimise maintenance intervals.

Standards and Design Principles

Depending on the line requirements, end connections can be configured as SW (ASME B16.11), BW (ASME B16.25), NPT/BSPT (ASME B1.20.1) or RF flanged (ASME B16.5) on request.

Body materials cover carbon / low-temperature steels (A105, A350 LF2), stainless steels (A182 F304 / F316) and extended high-temperature grades. Seat surfaces can be specified with metal-to-metal sealing and cobalt-based hardfacing options.

Handwheel operation is standard; for high torque requirements or remote operation, integration of gearbox, pneumatic or electric actuators is available. Sizing of the gate valve and actuator combination is carried out considering required torque, operating cycle frequency and emergency scenarios.
