Manufactured in line with EMS Valve quality standards and long-standing know-how, it offers a fast, safe and economical solution for your process lines.

Dual Plate Check Valve

What Is a Dual Plate Check Valve?

A double door check valve (Dual Plate Check Valve) is a type of check valve that opens with two half discs in the direction of flow and closes rapidly with spring assistance when reverse flow occurs. With its wafer type mounting between two flanges, it saves installation space and provides secure non-return protection without significantly increasing pipeline weight. This solution is included in the EMS Valve product range and can be configured according to different process requirements.

The compact design creates clear advantages on pump discharges, manifolds and space-limited mechanical rooms. Low cracking pressure and an aerodynamic flow path minimize pressure loss and contribute to overall energy efficiency.

Operating Principle and Key Advantages

When flow starts, the two half discs open with a short stroke around their shafts; when flow stops or reverses, the spring–disc assembly closes quickly on the seating surface. This reduces the risk of water hammer and protects the valve, pump and connected equipment.

Key advantages include:

  • Compact wafer body with minimum installation length and low weight
  • Dual-disc geometry providing low pressure drop and stable flow at high flow rates
  • Spring-assisted closure for fast response and effective backflow prevention
  • Wide range of materials and seat options suitable for liquids, gases and steam
  • Dual Plate Check Valve configurations available for Class 150/300 and PN 10–40 ranges (depending on project requirements)

At EMS Valve, design and engineering processes are carried out in accordance with the requirements of major international standards including ANSI, ASME, API and PED. This disciplined approach guarantees reliable performance and full traceability.

Applications

The dual plate check valve is especially preferred on pump outlets and in lines where reverse flow could cause system damage. Its compact body and low pressure loss characteristics deliver efficiency in HVAC, fire-fighting networks, process water, seawater, chemical transfer and compressed air systems.

It is widely used in power plants, chemical facilities, refineries, food and beverage processes and general industrial installations. EMS Valve’s local manufacturing capability and flexible configuration options offer fast delivery and a sustainable supply advantage for your projects.

Selection Guide: How to Define the Right Model

The following steps will help you select the most suitable dual plate check valve for your line:

  • Fluid and Temperature: Type of fluid, viscosity, minimum–maximum service temperature
  • Pressure and Flow: Operating pressure, peak values, flow rate and acceptable pressure loss
  • Piping Standards: Flange standard (EN/ASME), face-to-face dimensions (EN 558 / API 594) compatibility
  • Materials and Seat: Combination of body/disc/seat according to corrosion, erosion and tightness requirements
  • Mounting Position and Space: Vertical/horizontal installation, maintenance access, extraction clearance and lifting points

EMS Valve engineers use 3D design tools and stress–strain analyses to validate your project requirements and support you in defining optimum valve size, material combinations and closing characteristics.

Why EMS Valve?

Since 1979, EMS Valve has been one of the leading manufacturers in the sector with its local production strength, modern facilities and qualified team. Customer trust is built on high-quality manufacturing traditions, flexible service and transparent processes. Compliance with international standards balances strict engineering with design flexibility.

Quality assurance is supported by material and non-destructive testing procedures carried out in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. This approach reinforces product traceability and in-field performance.

Pricing and Quotation Process

The price of dual plate check valves varies according to size (DN/NPS), pressure class (PN/Class), body–disc material, seat type and testing scope. Once you share your project specification, our engineering team will define the most efficient configuration and prepare a competitive offer.

By combining EMS Valve’s reliable supply model with standard-compliant testing, you can streamline your supply chain and secure long-term performance in your installations.
